Latin American festival Carnaval del Pueblo Camberwell London
Latin American festival Carnaval del Pueblo Camberwell London.
Everyone, Latinos and non-Latinos, are invited to attend Europe's BIGGEST annual Latin American festival, Carnaval del Pueblo, on Sunday 2nd August 2009.
The day-long festivities will be in two parts: The float procession throughout the streets of South London, and the celebrations in Burgess Park later on.
The float procession will start at 12pm and end at 1.45pm (approx). There will be floats from 19 countries, including Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Bolivia and many more. Crowds will line the pavements to watch a wonderful array of floats from Latin America, turning London's streets into a wave of colour, creativity and energy for the day!
The festivities in Burgess Park will start at 12pm and last until 10pm (approximately). There will be four areas that provide entertainment from Brazil, Andean countries, and not forgetting the very popular space for Reggaeton and Latin Hip-Hop. There will also be delicious food, where you can tantalise your taste buds with the flavours of Latin America. There will be a Children and Games Zone, with games aplenty for the whole family to enjoy. There will also be bars where food and alcoholic drinks will be sold.
Now in it's 11th year, Carnaval del Pueblo has grown from an initial attendance of 4,000 people in 1999, to over 100,000 people for the past few years. We expect this year to be bigger and better than ever!
Closest tube stations are Elephant & Castle, Kennington and Oval.
